Bring your own sounds to life on the Minifreak.
With this tool, you can finally import and use your own custom samples on the Arturia Minifreak — something that’s long been missing.

Features:
- Optional fade-in/out & volume normalization
- Prefix-based naming for easier sample organization

⚠️ Disclaimer:
This tool was created out of frustration with the lack of sample import in the Minifreak 4.0 update. It’s not professionally developed — but it works well enough to get you to sample heaven.
Use at your own risk, follow the instructions, and above all: no warranties, no guarantees — just good vibes.
The tool has been tested only on macOS M devices running Sequoia 15.5

## 🛡️ macOS Security: Allowing the App to Run
When you open the app for the first time, macOS may block it with a message like:
> “Minifreak Sample Converter.app” cannot be opened because the developer cannot be verified.
This happens because the app is **not code-signed with an Apple developer certificate**. Don’t worry — here’s how to allow it:
### ✅ To Run the App Anyway:
1. **Open the `.app` file by double-clicking it.**
You’ll likely see a warning and no option to proceed.
2. **Close the warning.**
3. Open **System Settings** → **Privacy & Security**.
4. Scroll down and you should see a section that says:
**“‘Minifreak Sample Converter’ was blocked from use because it is not from an identified developer.”**
5. Click **“Allow Anyway”**.
6. Now, right-click (or Control+Click) the `.app` again and choose **“Open”**.
7. This time, macOS will ask if you're sure — click **“Open”**.
That’s it! The app will now launch and can be opened normally from then on.
---
> ℹ️ Note: This is standard behavior for many indie apps not distributed via the Mac App Store.
## 🎹 How to Use
1. **Open the app.**
2. **Drop** your audio file(s) or folders into the window.
3. **Preview & trim** single files if needed.
4. **Set output folder** when prompted.
5. **Converted files** will be saved as `.raw12b`.
You can now **place the files in your Arturia Minifreak V Factory Sample directory** and transmit them to your hardware.
Converted samples work in:
- **Sampler Engine**
- **Grain Sampler Engine**

## 🎛️ How to Use with Arturia MiniFreak (Hardware)
Once your samples are converted using this tool, you can load them into your **Arturia MiniFreak hardware** via the **MiniFreak V software**. Here’s how:
### 🪄 Step-by-Step Workflow
1. **Convert Your Files**
- Drag & drop your WAV, AIFF, or MP3 files into the app.
- Optionally trim and preview before converting.
- Files will be saved as `.raw12b` format.
2. **Copy to Factory Sample Folder**
- Place your converted files into this directory:
```
/Library/Arturia/Samples/MiniFreak V/Factory/Samples/Factory
```
> 📁 This is the (standard) Factory Sample folder used by MiniFreak V.
3. **Sync to Hardware**
- Connect your MiniFreak to your computer via USB.
- Open the **MiniFreak standalone app, NOT PLUGIN**.
- A prompt will appear to **synchronize samples** — proceed with it.
- Your new samples will be transferred to the hardware.
4. **Play Your Samples**
- The new samples will now appear inside MiniFreak’s **Factory** list.
- You can use them in the **Sampler** or **Grain Engine**.
---
> ⚠️ **Backup First!**
> Before adding or replacing samples, make sure to **backup your current MiniFreak state and sample library** — just in case.
> 🧪 **Test Gradually**
> While this tool has worked reliably in our testing, it's always a good idea to:
> - Add samples in **small batches**.
> - Test syncing and playback between each batch.
This is **not an official Arturia tool** — it's a personal project made out of passion (and a bit of frustration) with the lack of sample import in firmware 4.0 😉
Enjoy crafting your own sound universe!
## ⚠️ Disclaimer
It is *not a professionally developed or supported tool*. That said, it gets the job done and brings **sampling freedom** to your Minifreak.
> Use it at your own risk. No warranties, no guarantees — just vibes. 🎛️🔥
